If you’re a Houston-based entrepreneur or business owner looking for some good summer reading, you should add Hank Moore’s new book Houston Legends: History and Heritage of Dynamic Global Capitol to your must-read list. It tells the stories of the companies, community leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs who have made this city such a rich, diverse place to live and work. It presents Houston from a business perspective, chronicling 200 years of Space City history in a way that we really haven’t seen before, with anecdotes and insights that are relevant to the entrepreneurs, business owners, and leaders of Houston today.

The book is already available in ebook format for Kindles and NOOKs, with a nationwide release in paperback and hardcover slated for July 14 from Morgan James Publishing.

You might know Hank Moore from his previous books The Business Tree, The High Cost of Doing Nothing, or The $50,000 Business Makeover, among others. He’s also a business advisor and speaker who has presented think tanks for five U.S. Presidents. Not too shabby.

Houston Legends features chapters about the city’s legends in real estate and building, energy, entrepreneurship and innovation, banking and finance, retail, media, arts and entertainment, music, medicine and technology, sports, and more. With 2,000 of H-town’s legends covered in all, it’s safe to say that Moore presents what is probably the most comprehensive overview yet of the fascinating people who have shaped and defined our great city for generations.

Did you know Billy Preston was from Houston? Or Mary Kay of Mary Kay Cosmetics? Well, the book covers them all.

Houston Chronicle‘s Ken Hoffman recently asked Hank Moore, “What is it about Houston that produces so many successful artists, businesspeople, and scientists?”

Moore responded: “Houston never says no. Houston doesn’t tell people, no, you can’t accomplish your dreams. Houston says, if you want to become somebody, you’ve come to the right place.”

How Invoice Factoring Boosts Profits by Accelerating Cash Flow — and Unlocking Vendor Discounts

If your business sells on terms — Net 30, Net 60, even Net 90 — you already know the math doesn’t always work in your favor. You deliver the work, send the invoice, and then wait. Meanwhile, payroll is due Friday, your supplier wants payment, and that 2% early-pay discount your vendor offered? It quietly expires while your customer’s check sits in someone’s approval queue.

This is the cash flow…

How Fast Can I Get Cash From Invoice Factoring?

How Fast Can I Get Cash From Invoice Factoring?

When payroll is Friday and your biggest customer is on net-60 terms, “how fast” isn’t a curious question — it’s the only question. The honest answer for invoice factoring is that most established clients see funds in their bank account within 24 hours of submitting an invoice. First-time funding takes longer because of one-time setup work, but once you’re approved and onboarded, the cycle becomes fast and predictable.

The Underrated Power of Available Cash Flow

The Underrated Power of Available Cash Flow

Profit gets the headlines. Revenue growth gets the press releases. But ask any business owner who has watched a thriving company stumble into insolvency, and they will tell you the same thing: cash flow is what keeps the lights on.

Available cash flow—the money a business can actually access and deploy at any given moment—is the lifeblood of operations. It is also one of the most misunderstood metrics in business.…
